Dr. Alan Pomerantz

Biography

Born and raised in NJ, I attended Rutgers University for my Bachelors degree. I attended Cornell University and received both a Masters of Science degree and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees in 1985. I have had a varied career working with shelters, zoos and farms. Earlier in my career,

I owned a veterinary hospital in Kingston, NY, where I cared for all kinds of animals. I raised a modest flock of sheep and goats for 10 years. For the last 20 years, my primary interest has been dogs and cats-both medicine and surgery. At Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital, I also care for smaller pets like rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as wild mammals and birds.

My veterinary interests include preventive medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, and zoonotic diseases as well as soft tissue surgery. I like working at Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital because I feel that our office offers much to our individual patients and their human families, as well as to our community. Our hospital has terrific staff and all the up to date equipment to apply the appropriate care for our patients.

When not at work, I like the outdoors and enjoy hiking and wildlife photography. In winter, I still look for opportunities to go skiing. I follow professional and college sports and have been both a Football Giants and New York Yankees fan since birth. I am married to Saundra and we are blessed to have a shared family of four great kids, three pets, and three grandchildren, which all keep us proud, busy and very happy.

I currently serve as owner and medical director of Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital.
